FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about our work and process.

Why treat EPC upgrades as an investment?

Because the rating affects whether a building can be let, what it costs to run and how attractive it is to tenants and buyers. Upgrades planned around payback protect your income and support the value of the building, rather than being a cost you simply absorb.

What EPC rating does my commercial property need?

In England and Wales, most commercial property needs an EPC rating of at least E to be let, unless a valid exemption is registered. The minimum is expected to rise over time, so planning upgrades early avoids being caught out. We will confirm exactly what applies to your building.

Who carries out the assessment?

Our qualified Domestic and Non-Domestic Energy Assessors (DEA and NDEA) and Retrofit Coordinators, who bring over 25 years of experience in the property industry.

What is technical monitoring?

An independent inspection of retrofit work, during or after installation, to check it matches the agreed specification and the relevant standards. The findings are written up in a technical report you can use as evidence for funders, lenders and clients.

Can work be done while the building is occupied?

Yes. Works are phased and programmed with tenants so that the building stays in use wherever the scope allows.

How long does an assessment take?

Most assessments take two to four weeks from site visit to report, depending on the size and number of buildings.

How do I start?

Book an assessment with a few details about the property. We reply within two working days to arrange a call or site visit.
